Sqd.Ldr. Edward William John "Pat" Moloney
Royal Air Force
from:Andover
My father, genial Pat Moloney, was at Dishforth from late 1937 to 1940 as a non commissioned officer (later Sqd Ldr). He used to walk to Kirby Hill church and met a local girl, my mother, at a whist drive in the church hall.
They were married in that church in 1939. (He was an atheist!)
He then went on to serve at Bentley Priory Fighter Command which was rather prestigious but he never talked about it. Sadly free cigarettes were given out which shortened his life. He died in 1978 and never got back to India where he was born.
