C/Sgt Albert Leonard Percival Springall

British Army Pioneer Corps

Percys medals

I understand my father Albert Springall, known as Percy, joined up before the start of the war in the London section and was promoted and demoted before becoming Colour Sargeant. He served in the Pioneer Corps. He told me he built Bailey Bridges and was often in front of the line. I know at some stage he suffered burns to his face and was treated by American Doctors and he was thankful about that rather than being treated by his own army.
