John Henry Turner
British Army
from:Worthing
My grandfather, John Turner (known as Jack) was a PoW in Stalag 383 during WW2. I am not sure of the year he was captured, but he was a PoW for a large part of the war. My mother, his only child, was born in 1938, but the first she remembers of him was when he returned home in 1945, when she was six or just turned seven. She has postcards that he sent her from Stalag 383.
I don't know any of the details of his service, and my mother's memory is unreliable now. I do know he was born in 1912, in Westcliffe on Sea, Essex.
