L/Sgt. Edwin Victor Luff
British Army Royal Sussex Regiment
from:Rogate, West Sussex
Edwin Luff was my father's older brother. Born in Rogate, West Sussex he married Violet Stocker in 1948. I was only three when this "skeleton" came round the corner of our house. I can still remember being terrified. Uncle Son (as he was known) had been a prisoner of war in Stalag 18A for over three years. He was just a bag of bones. As I got to know him we became good friends. He would never talk about his capture or his imprisonment.
He never recovered and suffered great bouts of depression.
He died in his early sixties and took his secret to his grave
