He married Stella Violet Hawkins on 23rd of April 1940 in Welling, Kent. They had two children during their marriage. He died as a young father on 30th of September 1943 in Sulmona, L'Aquila, Italy, at the age of 25, and was buried in Ortona, Chieti, Italy.
