Able Sea. Neville Arthur Burgess HMS Fox (d.2nd Feb 1945)
Neville Burgess served on HMS Fox and died 2nd of February 1945 and is remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial. He was the son of Arthur and Doris Burgess of Beverley in Yorkshire.Neill Potts
PO. Harold Hiscock HMS Fox (d.2nd Feb 1945)
Harold Hiscock's death record from WWII is in the UK, British Army and Navy Birth, Marriage and Death Records, 1730-1960. It lists him as a Petty Officer serving on HMS Fox but that he died as a POW. I would be interested in how someone serving in a shore establishment in Scotland became a POW.Terry Piercey
2Lt. Patrick Corfe Cother DSC. HMS Fox
After suffering a nervous breakdown, when medically fit, Paddy Cother was returned to service in HMS Fox, Shetland. He may have been on administrative duties while there until war's end when he was transferred to HMS Victory until discharged in 1946.John E D Cother
POMM. George William Charles Clark DSM MTL A449
I'am putting together my family tree and would like to know more about my uncle George's naval history. He died in 2005 and whilst he was alive would not talk much about his time on the MTL'S based in scotland and Malta. I know he was based at HMS Hannibal & HMS Fox in Scotland and St Angelo in Malta. He was awarded the DSM and because when he received it the King was too ill to present it to him and so was presented it by some high ranking officer at the time. I would like to know what he did to be awarded the DSM and where, because family history is so conflicting and vauge. Also what was it like being on such a small craft?Michael Clark

The free section of the Wartime Memories Project website is run by volunteers. We have been helping people find out more about their relatives wartime experiences since 1999 by recording and preserving recollections, documents, photographs and small items.
The website is paid for out of our own pockets, library subscriptions and from donations made by visitors. The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
If you are enjoying the site, please consider making a donation, however small to help with the costs of keeping the site running.
