Stanley Frederick Buttifant . British Army Royal Welsh Fusiliers Stanley Buttifant served with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was captured in September 1944, he said when the fog lifted in the morning they were surrounded by Germans.

Cpl. Stanley Frederick Buttifant . British Army 1st Btn. The Herefordshire Regiment, King's Shropshire Ligh from Hertfordshire (d.01st May 1945) all he said was" We was surrounded by germans", when the fog lifted in the morning got they were captured and spent the rest of war in Stalag b3 or d3.

Sgt. Harold Victor Button . British Army att. Force 399 Special Operations Executive 2nd Royal Tank Regiment from Needham Market, Suffolk. (d.12th Oct 1944) Victor Button was the son of Charles P. F. Button and Mary F. Button, of Needham Market, Suffolk.
He was aged 21 when he died and is buried in the Tirana Park Memorial Cemetery in Albania.

Pte Joseph Button . British Army 11th Battalion Durham Light Infantry from Easington, Durham Joseph Button served with the 11th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. He was taken as a Prisoner of War and held in Stalag VIIIB from the 17th of August 1940, His POW number was 344/96355. He was discharged under King's Regulations 1940 Para 390 (xvi) on the 6th of November 1945.
I never met him as he died back in 1963 at the age of 49. His step daughter told me the nurses had tremendous respect for him as the story goes he escaped numerous times. I've also been told he used to shuffle on his heels and I'm thinking could this have been injuries sustained from the Death March?

Able.Sea George Worthington Buttriss . Royal Navy HMS Yorkshire Belle (d.11th Apr 1941) George Worthington Buttriss died aged 26 onboard The Yorkshire Belle, a boom tender which struck a mine and sank in the Humber with the loss of four crew. George was born in Jarrow, the son of George Henry and Alice Mary Buttriss (nee Somerfield) of Jarrow.
He is buried in Grimsby (Scartho Road) Cemetery.

Major Charles Carr Buxton . Royal Air Force 407 Squadron from Calgary, Alberta Canada My late father, Charles C. Buxton, was the youngest member to ever join the Demon Squad. He was 18 yrs. old. He taught British pilots to fly and was in Coastal Command during WWII when he was F/L Charles Carr Buxton, a pilot. He was born in Calgary, Alberta Canada in 1922 and died in West Lake, Ontario 1996. He was a great inspiration to me and loved his 30 years in the RAF and RCAF as did I, growing up.

Pte. Charles Edwin Buxton . British Army 5th Bn Seaforth Highlanders from Whittington, Chesterfield (d.19th February 1944) Eddie Buxton died 19th February 1944 at the age of 31 while serving with 5th Btn. Seaforth Highlanders. He is buried in St. Bartholomew's Churchyard, Old Whittington, Chesterfield. He was the son of Charles Edward and Alice Buxton, elder brother of Bert L. Buxton and husband of Kathleen May Buxton(Nee Harvey), all of New Whittington, Chesterfield.
I do not know where he died nor the circumstances of his death.

FO/Pilot George Cornelius Buxton . Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (d.28th April 1942) I am looking for information on RAF Cranage and a particular accident (crash) in 1942 which killed eight crew. They are buried in Byley (St John) Churchyard. I am looking for information particularly about George Buxton.

Cpl. Allan Howard "Wimpey" Bye . Australian Army C Company 2/19th Battalion from Adelong, NSW Allan Bye, know as Wimpey fought in the Malayan and Singapore Campaigns. As a POW he was interned in Changi, Great World POW Camp, Thai Burma Railway, Nagasaki Ship Yards and Nakama coal mines.
He died in January 2000.

Pte. Florence Evelyn "Fluffy" Bye . Auxilliary Territorial Service from Hackney, London My mother Florence Bye worked for the Auxilliary Territorial Service at the Northfield Psychiatric Hospital in Birmingham during WW2. She was a clerk and responsible for admitting and discharging patients, although from what she says, she spent a lot of time drinking tea with the patients. She loved her time in the ATS and still speaks about it even though she is now 96.

My dad, Albert Turner Bygrave, was in 10911 GW work group in the camp. Other than that all I know is that he escaped to Yugoslavia. I really want to find out more about my dad's time in Stalag 18A.

PO John Cecil Bygrave . Royal Navy HMS Frobisher My father, Petty Officer John Bygrave, served for 12 years in the Royal Navy until September 1952. He served, amongst others, in HMS Frobisher, HMS Mauritius and HMS Glory. Does anyone remember him?
